Frequency converter

One third of the electricity we use in industry is wasted. This not only puts a strain on the power grid, it also harms the environment and, of course, costs companies money unnecessarily. Most of this loss is due to older electric motors and rotating machinery such as pumps, conveyors, mixers, etc.

Without replacing this equipment, the use of variable frequency drives can largely remedy this inefficiency. Frequency converters are an environmentally friendly and cost-saving solution for controlling the speed of electric motors - they match the speed of the motor to the demand. This means the equipment gets exactly as much power as it needs at the moment. Electricity costs are greatly reduced, and nothing is lost in terms of performance.

We offer our customers frequency converters from Danfoss and NFO Drives.

To the products

Frequency converters and motors from a single source

We offer not only frequency converters, but also motors for industrial applications. Because we are a one-stop shop, we can take individual needs into account when installing new equipment to achieve the best possible results for your operation.

Directly delivered from Switzerland

We have a warehouse in Switzerland. This not only allows short delivery times, it also means that we take into account delivery date requests and can quickly help with any problems with a device.

Our suppliers

Danfoss

Founded in 1933, the manufacturer has been involved in energy efficiency for 50 years. Danfoss became the world's first company to mass-produce frequency converters in the 1970s and remains a pioneer in industrial energy efficiency to this day. Through its merger with VACON in 2015, Danfoss Drives has grown to become the leading manufacturer of drive solutions.

Danfoss Drives today is 100% focused on the development, manufacture and supply of frequency converters. Its portfolio of high-quality, application-optimized products maximizes process performance, saves energy and minimizes emissions. As a long-standing market leader, Danfoss offers a wide range of performance, with flexible inverter solutions for companies in all industries. Thanks to the flexibility of the equipment, customers with unusual or niche requirements can also be well served.

Elektron is Danfoss Drive Pro Partner

In Switzerland, ELEKTRON is an official Danfoss Drive Center Partner and exclusively responsible for the distribution of VACON® frequency converters. As a long-standing VACON partner, ELEKTRON has the relevant expertise in the VACON® series and ensures optimum service in Switzerland.

  • Very wide range of services
  • Provides a solution across all industries
  • We can serve companies and projects in the broader market as well as smaller niches well

Application areas

  • Industry
  • Power plant construction (oil/gas)
  • Heating & air conditioning / refrigeration
  • Drainage/fresh water
  • Elevators
  • Chair lifts
  • Vents
  • Solar parks
  • Niche applications or individual requirements in diverse industries

NFO

NFO Drives AB has been producing frequency converters since 1996 with the aim of making motors for pumps, fans and other equipment more efficient and environmentally friendly. With their small footprint and power range up to 22kW, they are best suited for lighter industrial applications and where space is limited.

NFO inverters are notable for their ease of installation, quiet operation and safety. EMC guidelines are met even without shielded cables or filters, directly simplifying installation. The inverters have no interference signal and only a low switching noise, which makes them particularly suitable for use in ventilation, power plant construction, and in the pharmaceutical industry. Thanks to the RCD, the devices are also safe for use in agriculture with animals, for example, milk pumps.

Advantages

Easy installation

  • No shielded cables necessary
  • No additional component such as filters/chokes
  • Unlimited motor cable length

High personal safety

  • No bearing currents
  • No earth currents
  • Operation at the residual current device (RCD)

Quiet operation

  • No electromagnetic interference
  • No disturbing switching noise
  • Operation in residential environment possible

Application areas

  • Vents - because of the low noise
  • Pumps
  • Light industrial applications
  • Power plant construction (oil/gas)
  • Heating - because of the volume (very quiet) and because it does not need a filter
  • Waste/fresh water -because of personal protection, e.g. fountains or submersible pumps
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical - no interfering signals
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Agriculture -no electric shocks

Environmental awareness pays off in the first year

Frequency converters save enormous amounts of power-often around 50% of normal use-in extreme cases, power consumption can be reduced over 70%. The greater the original power consumption was, the more noticeable the savings.

For this very reason, frequency converters are extremely important not only for the environment, but also financially for energy-intensive businesses. The investment involved in installing an inverter pays for itself again in the first year for many businesses.
