Roller table motors
Rolling table motors are special drive elements for the rolling mill industry.
In contrast to the classic roller conveyor design with a soft torque characteristic and long blocking times, roller conveyor motors for inverter use have a hard torque characteristic typical of double cage rotors. As a result, good synchronism is achieved with group drives under varying loads. They are subject to particularly tough electrical and mechanical requirements, especially in the case of working and transport roller tables. This results from a wide variety of operating modes and load cases with their variants of continuous, intermittent and short-time duty as well as start-up, braking and reversing operation.
VEM roller table motors of the classic ARB 22 - 65 series have proven their functional efficiency and reliability over several decades under sometimes extreme environmental conditions. Based on this experience, VEM has developed several variants of roller table motors adapted to the conditions of modern drive technology in frequency converter operation. The windings of these motors are specially designed for inverter operation. In contrast to the classic roller table design with a soft torque characteristic and long stalling times, roller table motors for inverter use have a hard torque characteristic typical of double cage rotors. As a result, good synchronism is achieved with group drives under varying loads. This is a prerequisite for good rolling quality.
