  • Electrification & DC Microgrids

Would you like to use energy more efficiently, electrify your processes, or build your own DC grid?

We’ll support you with the right components and the expertise needed for integration—from concept to implementation.

Why It's Worth Taking a Closer Look at Direct Current

DC microgrids are not a replacement for the AC world, but rather a useful complement to it in situations where generation, storage, and consumption already operate on the DC level—such as with PV, battery storage, drives with frequency converters, or uninterruptible power supplies for critical loads.

DC grids thus offer clear advantages when it comes to meeting the growing demands for efficiency, grid stability, and energy integration.

Fewer conversion losses
Every AC/DC conversion consumes energy. A shared DC link reduces the number of conversion stages between the source and the load.
Easy integration of PV and storage
Renewable sources and battery storage systems naturally supply direct current. A DC bus integrates them more directly and efficiently than the detour via AC.
Sturdy, robust nets
A DC distribution network can absorb local load peaks and reduce the impact on the upstream AC grid.
An open system, not a solo effort
Through the Open DC Alliance (ODCA) and similar global organisations, manufacturers, users and researchers are working on common, cross-vendor standards for DC distribution networks.

What We Offer

We see ourselves not only as a component supplier, but as a solutions provider.

We have in-depth knowledge of the product portfolios of leading manufacturers such as Danfoss, but we also understand the system into which a DC solution must be integrated, and we bridge the gap between these two worlds. Together, we work to ensure that the optimal solution is found for your application.

Consulting & Concept Development

Selecting the Right DC Components

We recommend the solution that best fits the investment—not necessarily the one with the highest margin.

Integration of DC Components into Existing Systems

Through our ODCA membership, we continuously monitor the development of new DC products and standards and always stay up to date.

Support for Implementation and Commissioning

Our track record in the power plant sector shows that we have actually built DC systems ourselves—not just presented them.

Reference Project: Emergency Lubrication System for a Gas-Fired Combined-Cycle Power Plant

An example of the successful implementation of a DC concept in an application where reliability is not an option, but a requirement.

Initial Situation:

The lubricating oil pumps for turbines and generators must continue to run reliably even during power grid disturbances. A failure of the emergency lubrication system can lead to bearing damage and downtime.

Our solution:

The implementation of a DC-based emergency lubrication system in which a DC-capable frequency converter—powered by a battery-backed DC circuit—takes over the drive of the pumps without interruption during power grid disruptions.

Benefits for the operator:

This ensures continuous lubrication even in an emergency, thereby reducing the number of moving switching components required compared to traditional UPS designs.

Member of the Open Direct Current Alliance (ODCA)

The ODCA is a working group within the ZVEI in which manufacturers, users, research institutions, and associations collaborate on an open, vendor-neutral ecosystem for direct current (DC) technology, with the goal of bringing DC applications in industry and related fields to market readiness.

As a member, we not only follow this development but also actively contribute our practical experience from Swiss projects.
