Sustainability is not a trend for us, but part of our corporate culture

As a future-oriented company, we not only strive to reduce our own carbon footprint, but are also committed to working with our employees, partners and society to create a sustainable and climate-friendly economy.

Our biggest contribution is our core business

We develop innovative, customized solutions that help our customers to increase their energy efficiency and increase the share of renewable energy

.

Energy-efficient lighting solutions
Rising CO₂ emissions and greenhouse gases are among the biggest challenges facing public lighting.

By providing comprehensive advice on retrofitting existing infrastructures and using LED technologies and intelligent, customized lighting control systems in our lighting solutions, cities and municipalities can significantly reduce their electricity consumption.

And save up to 80% CO₂ compared to conventional lighting!
Storage solutions for renewable energies
The use of solar energy is an important component of the energy transition.

To optimize self-consumption and maximize independence, we develop flexible and future-proof photovoltaic storage solutions for all needs. Solar system owners can store their self-produced electricity and use it when they need it.

In this way, we are also making an important contribution to strengthening solar energy in the Swiss electricity market.
Increasing energy efficiency in industry
In industry in particular, it is essential to operate in an energy and cost-efficient manner in order to ensure competitiveness.

Our experts provide support in analyzing and implementing individual energy-saving measures.

Our high-quality, tailor-made solutions in power electronics and drive technology increase energy efficiency and minimize costs without compromising performance.
Responsibility in the procurement and supply chain
We also take responsibility for climate protection in our procurement and supply chain and cooperate with partners who share our values.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct obliges all partners to act sustainably.

For example, our most important partner Signify already uses 88% recycled aluminum in its products.

At ELEKTRON, we focus on long-term, measurable success. Our sustainable approach combines reduction, compensation and innovation - with the aim of creating real added value for the environment, community and customers. We take everyone with us on this journey - from our employees and partners to the general public.

Three initiatives to help us continue to improve:

Initiative 1: ZERO EMISSION

As a "Zero Emission Company", we are committed to the goal of the Paris Agreement to achieve "net zero" emissions. Our goal is:

By 2030

  • To already reduce 50%* of our greenhouse gas emissions (*as of 2023)
  • To already use 80% biodegradable packaging material (recyclate)

By 2035

    • Achieve full compensation for residual emissions
    • Use 100% biodegradable packaging material (recyclate)

By the way: We offered the first luminaires with CO2 certification back in 2021. Since then, we have expanded the range and >4000 tons of CO2 have now been offset by our customers. Find out more >

Initiative 2: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

In order to achieve the goal of "net zero by 2050", it doesn't always have to be new. That's why we have integrated the circular economy into all of our business processes and consider all relevant control loops of the circular economy.</p

We are also developing second-life products that we will launch on the market in 2026. The first pilot projects have already been implemented.

INITIATIVE 3: SOCIAL HERO

We know that our employees are the basis of our success and actively take responsibility for each individual. This is why we promote a variety of health and educational measures for our employees and hold targeted information events on the topic of sustainability for our employees and customers.

Learn more about our knowledge transfer in the Academy.

We play a pioneering role in social sustainability. Among other things, we implement the following measures:

  • Working with institutions that promote social integration, such as the Buehl Foundation, Arwo and Vebo.
  • Preventive care and health: We regularly offer an anonymous health check-up for all our employees and pay the participation fees for sporting events.
  • Nutrition: We promote a balanced, healthy diet, not least in our staff restaurant.
  • Together: We hold regular employee events to promote social interaction.
  • Special ownership structure: Our company is not owned by private shareholders, but by a charitable fund.

Our climate target: net zero by 2035

📊 By 2030: already 50 % of CO reduction to be achieved
🌱 By 2035: min. 90% CO reduction and complete compensation of residual emissions

Our way there:

  • Sociocultural: We are committed to conserving resources in our day-to-day work - in every respect.
  • Energy efficiency: We implement more energy-efficient technologies in our operating processes.</li
  • Expansion of renewable energies: We consistently promote the use of climate-friendly energy sources.
  • Sustainable procurement: We rely on cooperation with responsible partners
  • Digital ways of working: We are actively committed to reducing business travel and increasing the proportion of video conferences in our day-to-day work.
