Pfäffikon gets its first Smart City Tower
ELEKTRON AG, EW Höfe and the municipality of Freienbach celebrate the commissioning
- ELEKTRON AG is pleased to realize together with EW Höfe AG and the municipality of Freienbach the first project of the initiative "Smart Höfe", the Smart City Tower.
- [-]The Smart City Tower is a multifunctional light pole and a real all-rounder. He lights as long as necessary, provides power for two electric cars, collects environmental data such as noise or particulate matter, measures the flow of traffic and is also a public WiFi antenna.
- [-]The data it collects is recorded and visualized in a Smart City Cockpit. This allows politicians, administrators, energy providers and the population to see the state of the community at a glance.
- [-]For the population, the tower symbolizes the first step towards smart infrastructure. Due to its versatility, the all-rounder can also be used at a later date for other applications such as parking lot occupancy, regulation of street lighting according to traffic volume or as an access to the Internet of Things.
Au Zurich - ELEKTRON AG is pleased to accompany the initiative "Smart Höfe" in the realization of its first project. Enrico Baumann, Managing Director of ELEKTRON AG, is impressed by the initiative:

The goal of the initiative "Smart Höfe" is then also to position the district Höfe as a future-oriented area. On the parking lot of the waste disposal site Pfäffikon SZ, therefore, the first Smart City Tower in the district of Höfe will be officially inaugurated on September 9, 2019. The multifunctional light tower in Pfäffikon has controllable LED lights, two charging stations for electric cars and collects environmental data such as noise or particulate matter.
The infrastructure of the municipality at a glance
The data collected by the tower is recorded centrally and visualized in an easy-to-understand Smart City Cockpit. Politicians, administrators, energy suppliers and even citizens can thus see the state of the city at a glance. Especially for an energy city like the municipality of Freienbach, the central control and comparison tool is crucial. The operation is ensured by EW Höfe AG.

The Smart City Tower is just the beginning
The Smart City Tower can also be expanded at a later date. For example, parking space occupancy can be recorded with sensors, or street lighting can be regulated according to effective traffic volume. With the Smart City Tower, the needs in the respective city can be specifically addressed.

About Smart Yards
Smart Höfe is an initiative of the district of Höfe and EW Höfe AG, which came into implementation at the end of 2018 after a participatory process. Using the criteria of a Smart City, it is intended to be available as a platform for projects and to position the location as a future-oriented area.
Smart Höfe is led by a core team, which includes: Diego Föllmi, District Council Höfe, Arne Kähler, EW Höfe AG, Dr. Peter Meyer, representing Technology Center Schwyz (TZS), Beat Ritschard, Economic Development Höfe, Andreas Schläpfer, schläpfer-associates, Kurt Zurbuchen, representing trade associations (gewerbe plus and HGVF).
The start-up year is largely financed by EW Höfe AG and the district of Höfe. For the future, a suitable membership model is used, it could already be found first members (ELEKTRON AG, Schwyzer Kantonalbank).
