Elektron Strengthens Its Board of Directors
Ruth Happersberger and Roland Lötscher Join the Group's Top Management Team
Together with Chairman of the Board of Directors Kurt Lüscher, Vice Chair Stephanie Züllig, and CEO Enrico Baumann, they will form the five-member executive committee of the Elektron Group going forward. The expansion was approved at the Annual General Meeting.
A Team for the Next Phase of Growth
Until now, the Board of Directors consisted of CEO Enrico Baumann and two external members, Stephanie Züllig and Kurt Lüscher. With the growth of the Elektron Group and the increasingly complex demands on strategic leadership, the company has decided to strategically strengthen this team.
“Until now, the Board of Directors consisted of only two external members alongside CEO Enrico Baumann—a team that was too small, especially in light of potential absences,” explains Kurt Lüscher, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “The expanded team now brings complementary expertise, and our decisions will have a broader foundation going forward. We’re all very much looking forward to working together as a new team!”

As the company’s highest governing body, the Board of Directors bears ultimate responsibility for financial management, strategic direction, the appointment of executive management, and risk assessment. “Especially in an increasingly complex business environment, it is important that the Board of Directors be as strong and diverse as possible so that all challenges can be optimally addressed,” said Lüscher.
Two distinguished figures
Ruth Happersberger has many years of experience in strategy, innovation, and consulting. She has been a member of the executive board at Energie 360° for many years and brings extensive expertise from various board positions in the energy and mobility sectors.
Roland Lötscher comes from the mobility and telecommunications industries and most recently served as CEO of Mobility. He, too, has many years of experience as a leader and board member.
“Both bring extensive and successful project and leadership experience in technology-oriented companies—in the fields of energy supply, ICT, and mobility,” says Kurt Lüscher. “We are also strengthening our team with expertise in the service sector as well as in the acquisition and management of investments and subsidiaries. In particular, Ruth and Roland have impressed us with their enthusiasm for Elektron, their dedication, and their professionalism—in short: they’re simply a great fit for us.”
Four Perspectives, One Common Path
Stephanie Züllig, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, sees the expansion as a key response to market dynamics: “Our markets are changing rapidly. Electrification, sustainability, new energy solutions, technological developments, and artificial intelligence are opening up major opportunities. The expanded Board of Directors strengthens our ability to identify opportunities early, set clear priorities, and shape growth in a sustainable manner.”
Speaking about the new colleagues, she says: “Ruth brings extensive experience in the energy sector while also putting people at the center. She knows that transformation can only succeed when strategy, leadership, and employees work together. Roland combines a deep understanding of technology with structured strategy development. He makes sense of complex interrelationships, sharpens strategic questions, and asks the questions that inspire us to think further.”

Why Elektron?
“For me, Elektron brings together several topics that have been on my mind for many years: energy, innovation, new business models, digitalization, and sustainable corporate development. I was particularly drawn to the combination of an established, entrepreneurial company and its clear commitment to actively shaping new areas of growth.”
Where do you see the greatest opportunities for Elektron?
“I see the greatest opportunities at the intersection of energy, smart infrastructure, and digital solutions. Cities, buildings, and industrial companies need to become more energy-efficient, connected, and sustainable—and this is precisely where Elektron, with its technical expertise and proximity to the market, can make a significant contribution.”
An Interview with Roland Lötscher
Why Elektron?
“To me, Elektron is a very interesting company: owner-managed, profitable, with a broad range of technologies that all contribute to a single goal—the electrification of our infrastructure. The energy transition isn’t just changing what we consume—it’s changing how cities are lit, how buildings store electricity, and how industry becomes more efficient. And Elektron is right in the middle of it all.”
Where do the biggest opportunities lie for Elektron?
“I see three major opportunities: the energy transition itself; the combination of sales and installation, which makes Elektron unique as a group; and the right size—large enough for challenging projects, small enough to make quick decisions and stay close to customers.”
A clear message to employees, customers, and partners
“With the expansion of the Board of Directors, our employees, customers, and partners now have a strategic leadership team that is a good fit for Elektron and that is committed to working together professionally to ensure the continued success of our company,” summarizes Kurt Lüscher.
We extend a warm welcome to Ruth and Roland and look forward to working with them on the newly formed Board of Directors.
