That was the first Interact City Community Event

Workshops, new products, and practical knowledge about the smart lighting management system

17.09.2026

Sold out down to the last seat: Interest in the first Interact City Community Event was enormous. Users and experts in public lighting gathered at Elektron to discuss current and upcoming possibilities for Interact City.

The focus was on concrete, real-world applications. What is already possible today? What’s next? And above all: What are our customers’ main concerns in their day-to-day use of Interact City?

First of all: Welcome to Elektron.

Following a welcome address by Philippe Kleiber (Managing Director of Smart City and Lighting), the community event kicked off with a first: a tour of Elektron.

From the lighting workshop to the warehouse and logistics, right into the heart of the Lighting Team. Our customers got to meet the people from the project team, back office, product management, and purchasing right where they work every day.

Because despite all the digitization, networking, and smart technology: at the end of the day, people work with people. And that’s exactly what matters to us at Elektron.

It's nice to see the face behind the voice on the phone.

Where is Interact City headed?

From adaptive lighting to RF Mesh to the new Service Tag app

The event began with a brief overview of current developments related to Interact City.

One key focus was adaptive lighting based on traffic data. This system combines real-time data such as speed and traffic volume into what is known as a “jam factor.” Depending on the traffic situation, the lighting can be adjusted accordingly.

Another topic discussed was RF Mesh. This opens up new possibilities for locations without cellular coverage, which can be established via lighting points.

And the discussion also turned to the future. Manuela Bolfing spoke about the integration of third-party sensors and new possibilities related to the Service Tag app.

Three hands-on workshops. Chosen by the participants.

This time, it wasn’t us who decided which topics to explore in depth—it was our guests, who chose them when they registered.

This led to three hands-on workshops:

Outdoor Multisensor

with Manuela Bolfing, Product Manager

Brightness, motion, temperature, tilt, impact, and noise: The Outdoor MultiSensor provides a variety of data directly from public spaces. Manuela demonstrated how sensor technology is used in practice and outlined the key steps involved—from feasibility studies through group planning and programming to fine-tuning.

Tips & Tricks in Interact City

with Yannick Gumpinger, Service Team

How do you commission a third-party light fixture? How do you correctly set up dimming schedules for events? Which settings are really important? And how do you generate reports? Yannick dove right into the application and shared tips and tricks for using Interact City on a daily basis.

Control Cabinet & Connector Kit

mit Stefan Raymann, Leiter Service Team

Two solutions, different possibilities: Stefan highlighted the differences between control cabinet control and the Connector Kit. The focus was on technical requirements, structural conditions, and setup—and thus on determining which solution is best suited for which application.

Discussed the technical details. Turned on the grill.

After so much Interact City, we couldn't let "Interact" take a back seat. During the group barbecue on Elektron’s rooftop terrace, there was time for conversations, sharing experiences, and brainstorming new ideas—all accompanied by a fantastic BBQ from Himmel am Berg.

A big thank you to all participants for their tremendous interest, the many questions, and the open discussion. And, of course, to everyone who contributed to the first Interact City Community Event, both on stage and behind the scenes.

SAVE THE DATE

The next Licht Akademie will take place on April 29, 2027.
